Pat Hill talking to Ben Caperton about the Blue Valor Run, an event that raised money through the Twin Towers Initiative for the Law Enforcement Museum in Washington D.C. Caperton was one of 125 motorcycle riders who rode from New York City, where they unveiled the steel replica of the Twin Towers as well as the memorial quilt with the photos of the 72 officers killed on 9/11. From Ground Zero, the riders had a police escort into the nation's capital to present the towers and the quilt to the keepers of the museum, which is expected to open in 2013

Judy Ivory and some of her students talking to Pat Hill about the GED program sponsored by Community Partnership of Teller County. Ivory, who teaches the program with Elaine Gould. Since the program was revamped in 2006, 130 students have graduated with a GED and several have gone on to college. Along with the GED, Ivory coordinates the Next Step program, which offers students the opportunity to visit colleges such as Pikes Peak Community.

Pat Hill talking to Mike Bartol, with Teller County's Veterans Services. Bartol was just named County Veterans Services Officer of the Year for the State of Colorado. In the past three years, Bartol has helped hundreds of veterans receive financial benefits from the Veterans Administration. For many, Bartol's navigating government bureaucracy has made a difference in their lives. Bartol received the award in Denver.

Pat Hill talking to Kathrine Backe, who was the driving force behind the Ute Pass Community Wildfire Protection Plan. Recently, the plan received national recognition from Firewise Communities/USA for its comprehensive approach to wildfire hazard assessments and a plan to address safety concerns. Backe's work was entirely volunteer, one that took up 40 hours a week for more than a year.

While scouting has changed since the organization was founded in 1912, still, some things remain the same, such as wanting to give back to the community. Last month, the scouts donated $100 to the Community Cupboard, a portion of the proceeds from the sale of Girl Scout cookies, an American tradition.

Pat Hill talking to Tina Albillar, a volunteer for Court Appointed Special Advocate. Founded in Colorado Springs in 1989, CASA has served more than 6,000 children in the Pikes Peak Region. CASA volunteers help children who have entered the "system," either through neglect and abuse or abandonment. Albillar, who lives in Woodland Park, is one of several advocates who help children in Teller County. CASA volunteers advocate for the child in the court system

Lucy and Pastor David Shaw have put together a public forum with four speakers talking about the Second Amendment. The forum is titled "Guns, Good, Bad or Both?" and presents a range of ideas on the subject. The forum stems from discussions among church members after the shooting in January in Tucson.

Leonard, who is retiring in May, is directing his last play for the school, Brigadoon, one of his favorite musicals. Pat Hill talking to six freshman and sophomore girls at Woodland Park High School about the Afternoon of Tea and Dresses at the Cheyenne Mountain Resort April 16. The event features prom dresses donated for girls who may not be able to afford the high cost of going to the prom. A rough estimate is $460. The girls are on the student council and are donating their time to host the event.

Bob Harvey and Bob Schleicher talking about the new nursing home coming to Woodland Park. An 80-unit facility, the home will devote 20 rooms to Memory Care Alzheimer's wing. The project fulfills a promise of bringing nursing-home care along with the hospital, which opened in 2007. While an assisted-living center had been planned, the economy tanked about the same time. The nursing home is being developed and run by a different management company.

Pat Hill talking to Pascha McKeough in the earthship home she built mostly by herself. Insulated by 1,600 tires filled with dirt, the home is heated by solar energy. While building her home near Guffey, McKeough lived in a 10-foot by 12-foot shed for 12 years. For her, the experience of living simply has brought a sense of spirituality that transcends the need for material things. At the age of 70, McKeough is self-sufficient and is an example of what sustainable living is all about. Her story is the subject of a prize-winning documentary film

At the forum, several leaders of organizations such as Peak Vista Community Health and the Pikes Peak Regional Hospital talked about services available to the residents. For TellerNetcast.com, Pat and Mary have a conversation about things to do in Guffey. Barrowman is the executive director of Prospect Home Care & Hospice and a leader in the Teller County community.

A fundraiser for the Alzheimer's Association, the breakfast was emotional for many as they watched videos of families whose loved ones suffered from the disease. Levy is a volunteer for the association who holds support groups for caregivers in Teller County. In a disease often wrenching for the families, Levy offers hope and guidance in a time of sorrow and fear.

At the senior center in Woodland Park, the fuel bill has increased by $50 a month. For the average person on the street, the escalating gas prices cut into their budgets for food and other necessities. Are the cutbacks a sign that the recession is not over but is resuming?

The school has eight Supportive Parents and Reading Kids book clubs, three sixth-grade clubs, two seventh-grade clubs and three eighth-grade clubs that meet and discuss books once a week during lunch.

Carol Grieve and Jenavie Brandt about chemtrails, streaks of white clouds trailing behind jet aircraft, stretching from horizon to horizon. The two women have embarked upon an awareness campaign to highlight the issue. To date, no one has identified the source of the chemtrails. To highlight the issue in Woodland Park, the two are sponsoring the documentary "What in the World are they Spraying?" The subtitle is "The Chemtrail/Geo-Engineering Cover-up." The movie will be shown at 1:30 p.m. March 12 at the Woodland Park library
